YUSUFALI: The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men).
PICKTHAL: And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals).
SHAKIR: And the people of the town came rejoicing.
KHALIFA: The people of the city came joyfully.
আয়াতঃ 015.068
লূত বললেনঃ তারা আমার মেহমান। অতএব আমাকে লাঞ্ছিত করো না।
[Lout (Lot)] said: ”Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not.
قَالَ إِنَّ هَؤُلاء ضَيْفِي فَلاَ تَفْضَحُونِ
Qala inna haola-i dayfee fala tafdahooni
YUSUFALI: Lut said: “These are my guests: disgrace me not:
PICKTHAL: He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not!
SHAKIR: He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me,
KHALIFA: He said, “These are my guests; do not embarrass me.
আয়াতঃ 015.069
তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় কর এবং আমার ইযযত নষ্ট করো না।
”And fear Allâh and disgrace me not.”
وَاتَّقُوا اللّهَ وَلاَ تُخْزُونِ
Waittaqoo Allaha wala tukhzooni
YUSUFALI: “But fear Allah, and shame me not.”
PICKTHAL: And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not!
SHAKIR: And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame.
KHALIFA: “Fear GOD, and do not shame me.”
আয়াতঃ 015.070
তার বললঃ আমরা কি আপনাকে জগৎদ্বাসীর সমর্থন করতে নিষেধ করিনি।
They (people of the city) said: ”Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the ’Alamîn (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?”
قَالُوا أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ
Qaloo awa lam nanhaka AAani alAAalameena
YUSUFALI: They said: “Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?”
PICKTHAL: They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone?
SHAKIR: They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people?
KHALIFA: They said, “Did we not enjoin you from contacting anyone?”
আয়াতঃ 015.071
তিনি বললেনঃ যদি তোমরা একান্ত কিছু করতেই চাও, তবে আমার কন্যারা উপস্থিত আছে।
[Lout (Lot)] said: ”These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so).”
قَالَ هَؤُلاء بَنَاتِي إِن كُنتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ
Qala haola-i banatee in kuntum faAAileena
YUSUFALI: He said: “There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so).”
PICKTHAL: He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so).
SHAKIR: He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught).
KHALIFA: He said, “Here are my daughters, if you must.”
আয়াতঃ 015.072
আপনার প্রাণের কসম, তারা আপন নেশায় প্রমত্ত ছিল।
Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly.
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
LaAAamruka innahum lafee sakratihim yaAAmahoona
YUSUFALI: Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro.
PICKTHAL: By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death.
SHAKIR: By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication.
KHALIFA: But, alas, they were totally blinded by their lust.
আয়াতঃ 015.073
অতঃপর সুর্যোদয়ের সময় তাদেরকে প্রচন্ড একটি শব্দ এসে পাকড়াও করল।
So As-Saîhah (torment – awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise;
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ
Faakhathat-humu alssayhatu mushriqeena
YUSUFALI: But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning,
PICKTHAL: Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise.
SHAKIR: So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise;
KHALIFA: Consequently, the disaster struck them in the morning.
আয়াতঃ 015.074
অতঃপর আমি জনপদটিকে উল্টে দিলাম এবং তাদের উপর কঙ্করের প্রস্থর বর্ষণ করলাম।
And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay.
فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
FajaAAalna AAaliyaha safilaha waamtarna AAalayhim hijaratan min sijjeelin
YUSUFALI: And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay.
PICKTHAL: And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay.
SHAKIR: Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed.
KHALIFA: We turned it upside down, and showered them with devastating rocks.
