যে ব্যক্তি কেয়ামতের দিন তার মুখ দ্বারা অশুভ আযাব ঠেকাবে এবং এরূপ জালেমদেরকে বলা হবে, তোমরা যা করতে তার স্বাদ আস্বাদন কর,-সে কি তার সমান, যে এরূপ নয়?
Is, then, one who has to fear the brunt of the Penalty on the Day of Judgment (and receive it) on his face, (like one guarded therefrom)? It will be said to the wrong- doers: “Taste ye (the fruits of) what ye earned!”
أَفَمَن يَتَّقِي بِوَجْهِهِ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَقِيلَ لِلظَّالِمِينَ ذُوقُوا مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ
Afaman yattaqee biwajhihi soo-a alAAathabi yawma alqiyamati waqeela lilththalimeena thooqoo ma kuntum taksiboona
YUSUFALI: Is, then, one who has to fear the brunt of the Penalty on the Day of Judgment (and receive it) on his face, (like one guarded therefrom)? It will be said to the wrong-doers: “Taste ye (the fruits of) what ye earned!”
PICKTHAL: Is he then, who will strike his face against the awful doom upon the Day of Resurrection (as he who doeth right)? And it will be said unto the wrong-doers: Taste what ye used to earn.
SHAKIR: Is he then who has to guard himself with his own person against the evil chastisement on the resurrection day? And it will be said to the unjust: Taste what you earned.
KHALIFA: What is better than saving one’s face from the terrible retribution on the Day of Resurrection? The transgressors will be told, “Taste the consequences of what you earned.”
২৪। যে ব্যক্তিকে শেষ বিচারের দিনে শাস্তির আক্রমণের প্রচন্ডতা ভয় করতে হবে [ এবং তা গ্রহণ করতে হবে] তার মুখমন্ডলে [ সে কি তার মত যে নিরাপদ ] ? ৪২৮০ পাপীদের বলা হবে , ” তোমরা যা অর্জন করেছ [তার ফল ] আস্বাদন কর।” ৪২৮১
৪২৮০। পৃথিবীতে যারা কোনও দিনও তাদের কৃত পাপের জন্য অনুতাপ করে নাই, শেষ বিচারের দিন তাদের জন্য হবে ভয়াবহ। সেদিন তারা তাদের কৃত পাপের পূর্ণ প্রতিফল লাভ করবে। সেদিনের শাস্তি তাদের সর্ব অবয়বকে ঘিরে মুখকেও পূর্ণ করে দেবে। অর্থাৎ শাস্তির আগুনে তারা পরিপূর্ণভাবে নিমজ্জিত হয়ে যাবে। পৃথিবীতে মানুষের অভ্যাস যে কোনও শারীরিক আঘাত থেকে আত্মরক্ষার জন্য হাত ও পাকে ঢালরূপে ব্যবহার করে থাকে। শেষ বিচারের দিনে এদের হাত ও পা থাকবে অকর্মণ্য। সুতারাং আগুনের শাস্তিকে প্রতিহত করার জন্য তারা হাত ও পাকে ব্যবহারের সুযোগ না পেয়ে তারা তা মুখ দিয়ে প্রতিহতের চেষ্টা করবে। শাস্তি প্রাপ্ত এই সব অসহায় পাপী লোকেরা কি পূণ্যবান ও আল্লাহ্র রহমত প্রাপ্ত বান্দাদের সাথে এক শ্রেণীতে তুলনাযোগ্য। অবশ্যই নয়। পাপী তার কর্মের শাস্তি ভোগ করবে এবং পূণ্যাত্মা আল্লাহ্র রহমত ভোগ করবে।
৪২৮১। “যা অর্জন করতে” – অর্থাৎ পৃথিবীকে কৃত তাদের সকল মন্দ কাজ ও পাপ যা তারা তাদের কর্মের মাধ্যমে অর্জন করেছে।
আয়াতঃ 039.025
তাদের পূর্ববর্তীরাও মিথ্যারোপ করেছিল, ফলে তাদের কাছে আযাব এমনভাবে আসল, যা তারা কল্পনাও করত না।
Those before them (also) rejected (revelation), and so the Punishment came to them from directions they did not perceive.
كَذَّبَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَاهُمْ الْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
Kaththaba allatheena min qablihim faatahumu alAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroona
YUSUFALI: Those before them (also) rejected (revelation), and so the Punishment came to them from directions they did not perceive.
PICKTHAL: Those before them denied, and so the doom came on them whence they knew not.
SHAKIR: Those before them rejected (prophets), therefore there came to them the chastisement from whence they perceived not.
KHALIFA: Others before them have disbelieved and, consequently, the retribution afflicted them whence they never expected.
২৫। তাদের পূর্বেও যারা [ প্রত্যাদেশকে ] প্রত্যাখান করেছিলো , ফলে তাদের উপর এমনভাবে শাস্তি এসেছিলো যে, সে সম্বন্ধে তারা ধারণাও করতে পারে নাই ৪২৮২।
৪২৮২। দেখুন আয়াত [ ১৬ : ২৬ ]। পাপীরা এমনভাবে হঠাৎ করে শাস্তি লাভ করবে যা তারা কল্পনাও করে নাই। আল্লাহ্র বিরুদ্ধে অবিশ্বাস ও বিদ্রোহের দ্বারা তারা হয়তো পার্থিব জীবনে ক্ষণস্থায়ী সুযোগ সুবিধা লাভ করতে পারবে সত্য , কিন্তু তাদের এই পার্থিব জীবন হঠাৎ করেই শেষ হয়ে যাবে, পরে থাকবে শুধু পরলোকের অনন্ত জীবন। যে জীবনে তাদের জন্য থাকবে শুধু লাঞ্ছনা ও গঞ্জনা।
আয়াতঃ 039.026
অতঃপর আল্লাহ তাদেরকে পার্থিব জীবনে লাঞ্ছনার স্বাদ আস্বাদন করালেন, আর পরকালের আযাব হবে আরও গুরুতর, যদি তারা জানত!
So Allah gave them a taste of humiliation in the present life, but greater is the punishment of the Hereafter, if they only knew!
