২২। যখন তারা দাউদের নিকট উপস্থিত হলো ৪১৭২, এবং সে তাদের দেখে আতঙ্কগ্রস্থ হলো , [ তখন] তারা বলেছিলো , ” ভয় পাবেন না; আমরা দুই বিবাদমান পক্ষ, আমাদের একজন অন্যজনের প্রতি অত্যাচার করেছে। অতএব আমাদের মাঝে ন্যায় বিচার করুন , অন্যায় বিচার করবেন না এবং আমাদের সঠিক পথ নির্দ্দেশ করুন।
৪১৭২। রাজা হিসেবে সকল কাজ সমাপান্তে দাউদ নবী নির্দ্দিষ্ট সময়ে তার ব্যক্তিগত প্রকোষ্ঠে প্রবেশ করতেন আল্লাহ্র এবাদত ও প্রশংসা করার জন্য। একদিন তিনি যখন তাঁর ইবাদতখানাতে এবাদতে মশগুল , তখন হঠাৎ করে দুজন লোক প্রাচীর ডিঙ্গিয়ে তার ইবাদতখানাতে প্রবেশ লাভ করে। দাউদ নবী তাদের অপচ্ছায়া দেখে ভয় পেয়ে যান। কিন্তু তারা বলে যে, ” আমরা দুই ভাই , দেশের রাজা হিসেবে আপনার নিকট ন্যায়বিচার লাভের জন্য আমাদের আগমন। আমাদের মধ্যে বিবাদের মীমাসংসার জন্য আপনার নিকট আমরা এসেছি। “
আয়াতঃ 038.023
সে আমার ভাই, সে নিরানব্বই দুম্বার মালিক আর আমি মালিক একটি মাদী দুম্বার। এরপরও সে বলেঃ এটিও আমাকে দিয়ে দাও। সে কথাবার্তায় আমার উপর বল প্রয়োগ করে।
“This man is my brother: He has nine and ninety ewes, and I have (but) one: Yet he says, ‘commit her to my care,’ and is (moreover) harsh to me in speech.”
إِنَّ هَذَا أَخِي لَهُ تِسْعٌ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً وَلِيَ نَعْجَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِي فِي الْخِطَابِ
Inna hatha akhee lahu tisAAun watisAAoona naAAjatan waliya naAAjatun wahidatun faqala akfilneeha waAAazzanee fee alkhitabi
YUSUFALI: “This man is my brother: He has nine and ninety ewes, and I have (but) one: Yet he says, ‘commit her to my care,’ and is (moreover) harsh to me in speech.”
PICKTHAL: Lo! this my brother hath ninety and nine ewes while I had one ewe; and he said: Entrust it to me, and he conquered me in speech.
SHAKIR: Surely this is my brother; he has ninety-nine ewes and I have a single ewe; but he said: Make it over to me, and he has prevailed against me in discourse.
KHALIFA: “This brother of mine owns ninety nine sheep, while I own one sheep. He wants to mix my sheep with his, and continues to pressure me.”
২৩। “এই লোকটি আমার ভাই ৪১৭৩। ওর আছে নিরানব্বইটি দুম্বা এবং আমার আছে [ মাত্র ] একটি। তবুও সে বলে এটাকে আমার অধীনে দিয়ে দাও। অধিকন্তু সে আমার প্রতি কর্কশ ভাষী।”
৪১৭৩। দুই ভাই এর মধ্যে যে বেশী অত্যাচারিত সে বক্তব্য শুরু করলো এভাবে, ” আমার এই ভাই এর নিরানব্বইটি ভেড়ার একটি পাল আছে। আমার আছে মাত্র একটা। সে আমার এই একটি মাত্র দুম্বাকেও দখল করে নিতে চায়। উপরন্তু আমার সাথে তাঁর ব্যবহার অত্যন্ত খারাপ। তার কথাবার্তা দুরভিসন্ধিমুলক। সে এই ভেড়াটি অংশীদারী ভিত্তিতে গ্রহণ করার কথা বলে না। এবারে আমি কি করবো?”
আয়াতঃ 038.024
দাউদ বললঃ সে তোমার দুম্বাটিকে নিজের দুম্বাগুলোর সাথে সংযুক্ত করার দাবী করে তোমার প্রতি অবিচার করেছে। শরীকদের অনেকেই একে অপরের প্রতি জুলুম করে থাকে। তবে তারা করে না, যারা আল্লাহর প্রতি বিশ্বাসী ও সৎকর্ম সম্পাদনকারী। অবশ্য এমন লোকের সংখ্যা অল্প। দাউদের খেয়াল হল যে, আমি তাকে পরীক্ষা করছি। অতঃপর সে তার পালনকর্তার কাছে ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করল, সেজদায় লুটিয়ে পড়ল এবং তাঁর দিকে প্রত্যাবর্তন করল।
(David) said: “He has undoubtedly wronged thee in demanding thy (single) ewe to be added to his (flock of) ewes: truly many are the partners (in business) who wrong each other: Not so do those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and how few are they?”…and David gathered that We had tried him: he asked forgiveness of his Lord, fell down, bowing (in prostration), and turned (to Allah in repentance).
قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ إِلَى نِعَاجِهِ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْ الْخُلَطَاء لَيَبْغِي بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَقَلِيلٌ مَّا هُمْ وَظَنَّ دَاوُودُ أَنَّمَا فَتَنَّاهُ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ
Qala laqad thalamaka bisu-ali naAAjatika ila niAAajihi wa-inna katheeran mina alkhulata-i layabghee baAAduhum AAala baAAdin illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati waqaleelun ma hum wathanna dawoodu annama fatannahu faistaghfara rabbahu wakharra rakiAAan waanaba

PICKTHAL: (David) said: He hath wronged thee in demanding thine ewe in addition to his ewes, and lo! many partners oppress one another, save such as believe and do good works, and they are few. And David guessed that We had tried him, and he sought forgiveness of his Lord, and he bowed himself and fell down prostrate and repented.
SHAKIR: He said: Surely he has been unjust to you in demanding your ewe (to add) to his own ewes; and most surely most of the partners act wrongfully towards one another, save those who believe and do good, and very few are they; and Dawood was sure that We had tried him, so he sought the protection of his Lord and he fell down bowing and turned time after time (to Him).
KHALIFA: He said, “He is being unfair to you by asking to combine your sheep with his. Most people who combine their properties treat each other unfairly, except those who believe and work righteousness, and these are so few.” Afterwards, David wondered if he made the right judgment. He thought that we were testing him. He then implored his Lord for forgiveness, bowed down, and repented.
