وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ عَنِ الصِّرَاطِ لَنَاكِبُونَ
Wa-inna allatheena la yu/minoona bial-akhirati AAani alssirati lanakiboona
YUSUFALI: And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way.
PICKTHAL: And lo! those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed astray from the path.
SHAKIR: And most surely those who do not believe in the hereafter are deviating from the way.
KHALIFA: Those who disbelieve in the Hereafter will surely deviate from the right path.
৭৩। কিন্তু তুমি তো তাদের সরল পথে আহ্বান কর।
৭৪। যারা পরলোকের জীবনে বিশ্বাসী নয়, অবশ্যই তারা সে [ সরল ] পথ থেকে বিচ্যুত হবে।
৭৫। আমি যদি তাদের দয়া করি এবং তাদের দুঃখ – দুর্দ্দশা দূর করে দিই , তথাপি তারা একগুয়ে ভাবে অবাধ্য হয়ে উদ্ভ্রান্তের ন্যায় ঘুরে বেড়াবে ২৯২১।
২৯২১। এই আয়াতে যে “দুঃখ -দুর্দ্দশার” উল্লেখ আছে তা ছিলো সমসাময়িক দুর্ভিক্ষবস্থা। মক্কার কোরেশরা এই দুর্ভিক্ষের জন্য রসুলুল্লাহ্র [ সা] সত্য ধর্ম প্রচারকে দায়ী করতো। তাদের ধারণা হয়েছিলো যে তাদের দেবদেবীকে পরিত্যাগ করে এক আল্লাহ্র উপাসনার কথা প্রচার করাতে দেবদেবীর ক্রোধের পরিণতিই হচ্ছে মক্কাতে দুর্ভিক্ষ। এই সূরাটি মক্কী সূরা। এই দুর্ভিক্ষের বর্ণনা করেছেন ইব্নে কাতির [ Kathir ] যা রসুলুল্লাহ্র [ সা ] নবুয়ত প্রাপ্তির অষ্টম বর্ষে সংঘটিত হয়। হিজরতের প্রায় চার বৎসর পূর্বের ঘটনা এটি। হিজরতের পরেও মক্কাতে দুর্ভিক্ষ হয় যা বুখারীতে উল্লেখ আছে – তার পরবর্তী ঘটনা।
আয়াতঃ 023.075
যদি আমি তাদের প্রতি দয়া করি এবং তাদের কষ্ট দূর করে দেই, তবুও তারা তাদের অবাধ্যতায় দিশেহারা হয়ে লেগে থাকবে।
And though We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, still they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.
وَلَوْ رَحِمْنَاهُمْ وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرٍّ لَّلَجُّوا فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
Walaw rahimnahum wakashafna ma bihim min durrin lalajjoo fee tughyanihim yaAAmahoona
YUSUFALI: If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro.
PICKTHAL: Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy.
SHAKIR: And if We show mercy to them and remove the distress they have, they would persist in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on.
KHALIFA: Even when we showered them with mercy, and relieved their problems, they plunged deeper into transgression, and continued to blunder.
৭৩। কিন্তু তুমি তো তাদের সরল পথে আহ্বান কর।
৭৪। যারা পরলোকের জীবনে বিশ্বাসী নয়, অবশ্যই তারা সে [ সরল ] পথ থেকে বিচ্যুত হবে।

আয়াতঃ 023.076
আমি তাদেরকে শাস্তি দ্বারা পাকড়াও করেছিলাম, কিন্তু তারা তাদের পালনকর্তার সামনে নত হল না এবং কাকুতি-মিনুতিও করল না।
And indeed We seized them with punishment, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they invoke (Allâh) with submission to Him.
وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَاهُم بِالْعَذَابِ فَمَا اسْتَكَانُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
Walaqad akhathnahum bialAAathabi fama istakanoo lirabbihim wama yatadarraAAoona
YUSUFALI: We inflicted Punishment on them, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor do they submissively entreat (Him)!-
PICKTHAL: Already have We grasped them with punishment, but they humble not themselves unto their Lord, nor do they pray,
SHAKIR: And already We overtook them with chastisement, but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor do they humble themselves.
KHALIFA: Even when we afflicted them with retribution, they never turned to their Lord imploring.
