سَلْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ كَمْ آتَيْنَاهُم مِّنْ آيَةٍ بَيِّنَةٍ وَمَن يُبَدِّلْ نِعْمَةَ اللّهِ مِن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءتْهُ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ
Sal banee isra-eela kam ataynahum min ayatin bayyinatin waman yubaddil niAAmata Allahi min baAAdi ma jaat-hu fa-inna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi
YUSUFALI: Ask the Children of Israel how many clear (Signs) We have sent them. But if any one, after Allah’s favour has come to him, substitutes (something else), Allah is strict in punishment.
PICKTHAL: Ask of the Children of Israel how many a clear revelation We gave them! He who altereth the grace of Allah after it hath come unto him (for him), lo! Allah is severe in punishment.
SHAKIR: Ask the Israelites how many a clear sign have We given them; and whoever changes the favor of Allah after it has come to him, then surely Allah is severe in requiting (evil).
KHALIFA: Ask the Children of Israel how many profound miracles have we shown them! For those who disregard the blessings bestowed upon them by GOD, GOD is most strict in retribution.

২১১। বণী ইসরাঈলীদের জিজ্ঞেস কর, কতগুলি সুস্পষ্ট [নিদর্শন] আমি তাদের প্রেরণ করেছি? ২৩২। আল্লাহ্র অনুগ্রহ আসার পরে কেউ তার পরিবর্তন করলে আল্লাহ্ তো শাস্তি দানে কঠোর ২৩৩।
২৩২। উপরের আয়াতের উদাহরণ আমরা দেখি হযরত মুসার সময়ে। আল্লাহ্ ইসরাঈলীদের তার মহিমা এবং নিদর্শন দেখান, তারপরও ইসরাঈলীরা আল্লাহ্র নির্দেশিত পথ ত্যাগ করে নিজেদের কল্পনায় গড়া মূর্তিপূজা এবং খেয়ালখুশী মত চলতে থাকে। এ কথাটা শুধুমাত্র ইসরাঈলীদের বেলায প্রযোজ্য তাই নয়। এ কথা সর্বকালের সর্বযুগের জন্য প্রযোজ্য। অবিশ্বাসীরা আল্লাহ্র পরিবর্তে নিজেদের কল্পনা প্রসূত শক্তির পূঁজা করে। প্রাচীন ইসরাঈলীরা সোনার গো-বৎস্য পঁজা করেছে, আজকের যুগে আমরা দেখি এর ধরণ পাল্টে গেছে। কেউ বিশ্বমানবতার নামে নাস্তিক, কেউ কমুনিজমের নামে নাস্তিক। আবার কেউ আল্লাহ্র নামে Trinity তে বিশ্বাসী ইত্যাদি। অর্থাৎ সবাই স্ব-স্ব মত অনুসারে আল্লাহ্কে বিশ্বাস করতে চায়। আজ মুসলমানদের মধ্যে এত বিভক্তির কারণও এই একটাই। কিন্তু আল্লাহ্ বলেছেন এর দ্বারা তারা নিজেদেরই প্রতারিত করবে, কারণ আল্লাহ্র ন্যায় বিচার অবশ্যই আসবে। যারা তার রহমত ও করুণা অস্বীকার করে তাদের জন্য এই ন্যায় বিচার অত্যন্ত কঠোরভাবে প্রযোজ্য হবে।
২৩৩। আয়াত [২:১৯৬] এর শেষাংশে আল্লাহ্কে ভয় করতে বলা হয়েছে, যারা আল্লাহ্কে ভয় করে না তাদের কঠোর শাস্তির কথা বলা হয়েছে। আয়াত [২:২১১] এর শেষাংশে তাদের কথা বলা হয়েছে যারা আল্লাহ্র নিদর্শন অস্বীকার করে এবং পরিবর্তন করে তাদের শাস্তি হবে কঠোর।

পার্থিব জীবনের উপর কাফেরদিগকে উম্মত্ত করে দেয়া হয়েছে। আর তারা ঈমানদারদের প্রতি লক্ষ্য করে হাসাহাসি করে। পক্ষান্তরে যারা পরহেযগার তারা সেই কাফেরদের তুলনায় কেয়ামতের দিন অত্যন্ত উচ্চমর্যাদায় থাকবে। আর আল্লাহ যাকে ইচ্ছা সীমাহীন রুযী দান করেন।
Beautified is the life of this world for those who disbelieve, and they mock at those who believe. But those who obey Allâh’s Orders and keep away from what He has forbidden, will be above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allâh gives (of His Bounty, Blessings, Favours, Honours, etc. on the Day of Resurrection) to whom He wills without limit.
زُيِّنَ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا وَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَالَّذِينَ اتَّقَواْ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَاللّهُ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَاء بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
Zuyyina lillatheena kafaroo alhayatu alddunya wayaskharoona mina allatheena amanoo waallatheena ittaqaw fawqahum yawma alqiyamati waAllahu yarzuqu man yashao bighayri hisabin
YUSUFALI: The life of this world is alluring to those who reject faith, and they scoff at those who believe. But the righteous will be above them on the Day of Resurrection; for Allah bestows His abundance without measure on whom He will.
PICKTHAL: Beautified is the life of the world for those who disbelieve; they make a jest of the believers. But those who keep their duty to Allah will be above them on the Day of Resurrection. Allah giveth without stint to whom He will.
SHAKIR: The life of this world is made to seem fair to those who disbelieve, and they mock those who believe, and those who guard (against evil) shall be above them on the day of resurrection; and Allah gives means of subsistence to whom he pleases without measure.
KHALIFA: This worldly life is adorned in the eyes of the disbelievers, and they ridicule those who believe. However, the righteous will be far above them on the Day of Resurrection. GOD blesses whomever He wills, without limits.
