YUSUFALI: He said: “O my people! why ask ye to hasten on the evil in preference to the good? If only ye ask Allah for forgiveness, ye may hope to receive mercy.
PICKTHAL: He said: O my people! Why will ye hasten on the evil rather than the good? Why will ye not ask pardon of Allah, that ye may receive mercy.
SHAKIR: He said: O my people! why do you seek to hasten on the evil before the good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of Allah so that you may be dealt with mercifully?
KHALIFA: He said, “O my people, why do you hasten to commit evil instead of good works? If only you implore GOD for forgiveness, you may attain mercy.”
৪৬। সে বলেছিলো, ” হে আমার সম্প্রদায় ! তোমরা কেন কল্যাণের স্থলে অকল্যাণকে অগ্রাধিকার দিতেছ ? ৩২৮৪। তোমরা যদি আল্লাহ্র নিকট শুধুমাত্র ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করতে, তোমরা অনুগ্রহ পেতে পারতে।”
৩২৮৪। দেখুন আয়াত [ ১৩ : ৬ ]। যারা পাপে আসক্ত থাকে তারা বুঝতে পারে না যে, তারা তাদের নিজের ধবংস নিজেই ত্বরান্বিত করে। সামুদ সম্প্রদায় গরীবদের শোষণ ও নিষ্পেষণ দ্বারা তাদের ধ্বংস ত্বরান্বিত করেছিলো। সালেহ্ নবীর ন্যায়ের প্রতিষ্ঠার আহ্বান তাঁদের নিকট অশুভ মনে হয়েছিলো। তাদের কার্যকলাপ ছিলো অশুভ। কারণ তাদের অন্যায় কার্যাবলীই ছিলো তাদের জন্য অমঙ্গলের এবং প্রাপ্য শাস্তির কারণ।
আয়াতঃ 027.047
তারা বলল, তোমাকে এবং তোমার সাথে যারা আছে, তাদেরকে আমরা অকল্যাণের প্রতীক মনে করি। সালেহ বললেন, তোমাদের মঙ্গলামঙ্গল আল্লাহর কাছে; বরং তোমরা এমন সম্প্রদায়, যাদেরকে পরীক্ষা করা হচ্ছে।
They said: ”We augur ill omen from you and those with you.” He said: ”Your ill omen is with Allâh; nay, but you are a people that are being tested.”
قَالُوا اطَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَ قَالَ طَائِرُكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تُفْتَنُونَ
Qaloo ittayyarna bika wabiman maAAaka qala ta-irukum AAinda Allahi bal antum qawmun tuftanoona
YUSUFALI: They said: “Ill omen do we augur from thee and those that are with thee”. He said: “Your ill omen is with Allah; yea, ye are a people under trial.”
PICKTHAL: They said: We augur evil of thee and those with thee. He said: Your evil augury is with Allah. Nay, but ye are folk that are being tested.
SHAKIR: They said: We have met with ill luck on account of you and on account of those with you. He said: The cause of your evil fortune is with Allah; nay, you are a people who are tried.
KHALIFA: They said, “We consider you a bad omen for us, you and those who joined you.” He said, “Your omen is fully controlled by GOD. Indeed, you are deviant people.”
৪৭। তারা বলেছিলো, ” তোমাকে ও তোমার সাথে যারা আছে তাদের আমরা অমঙ্গলের কারণ মনে করি। “সে বলেছিলো, ” তোমাদের অমঙ্গল আল্লাহ্র কাছে; হ্যাঁ তোমরা এমন এক সম্প্রদায় , যাদের পরীক্ষা করা হচ্ছে ৩২৮৫। ”
৩২৮৫। পৃথিবীতে সকল পাপই সর্বদা শাস্তি পায় না। এর অর্থ এই নয় যে,এই সকল পাপ আল্লাহ্র কাছে ক্ষমা লাভ করে। আল্লাহ্ এদের সুযোগ দান করে থাকেন যেনো তারা অনুতাপের মাধ্যমে নিজেকে সংশোধন করার সুযোগ গ্রহণ করে। আল্লাহ্ তাদের অনুগ্রহ করে সুযোগ দান করে থাকেন। তাদের পরীক্ষা করার মানসে। তারা যাকে ” অশুভ শক্তি ” বলে থাকে তা হচ্ছে তাদের পাপের শাস্তি। এ শাস্তি আল্লাহ্র তরফ থেকে আগত ন্যায় বিচার।

আর সেই শহরে ছিল এমন একজন ব্যক্তি, যারা দেশময় অনর্থ সৃষ্টি করে বেড়াত এবং সংশোধন করত না।
And there were in the city nine men (from the sons of their chiefs), who made mischief in the land, and would not reform.
وَكَانَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ
Wakana fee almadeenati tisAAatu rahtin yufsidoona fee al-ardi wala yuslihoona
YUSUFALI: There were in the city nine men of a family, who made mischief in the land, and would not reform.
PICKTHAL: And there were in the city nine persons who made mischief in the land and reformed not.
SHAKIR: And there were in the city nine persons who made mischief in the land and did not act aright.
KHALIFA: There were nine gangsters in the city who were wicked, and never did anything good.
৪৮। আর সেই শহরে ছিলো এমন নয় ব্যক্তি যারা দেশে অশান্তি সৃষ্টি করতো এবং দোষত্রুটির সংস্কার সাধন করতে দিত না ৩২৮৬।
৩২৮৬। এখানে যে নয় ব্যক্তির কথা বলা হয়েছে এরা ন্যায়কে প্রতিহত করার জন্য দৃঢ় প্রতিজ্ঞ ছিলো। কিন্তু তারা ন্যায় বিচারকে ধ্বংস করতে পারে নাই ; বরং ন্যায়সঙ্গতভাবে তারাই ধ্বংস হয়ে যায়।
